One Europe or Several?
The ESRC 'One Europe or Several?' Programme consists of 26 research projects, which examine contemporary processes of political, security, economic, social and cultural change across the European continent, as well as issues of convergence and divergence and prospects for integration and fragmentation.
The Programme needed a website to strengthen links between its research projects and to present its work to the wider world.
Keymedia created a clean and simple site with a design that reflected the nature of the programme. Site areas include projects (with links to individual project sites), publications, newsletters, and a graphical events calendar.
The original site was built several years ago and we were recently commissioned by the Programme Director to upgrade it to cope with the enormous volume of material that the project is producing.
We have now built a more sophisticated search facility, added style sheets to all the pages (the original site pre dates style sheets), provided more content management facilities and moved the site to our servers in order to provide help with ongoing maintenance.
Our experience with the One Europe site illustrates that creating websites is an evolutionary process. The scope of most sites changes over time and they need to be reviewed on a regular basis.
